A Resilient Rose

This weekend I fell in love with a single magenta rose.

It was as if it called to me from a few yards away – beckoning me to come closer and smell its sweet, healing nectar.

As I breathed deeply I could feel my whole body relax, allowing it to hold me in a warm, loving embrace.

Everything would be okay.

All was well.

And for the first time in a long time, I had a feeling that it would stay that way.

No matter the storms that come, I will always find my way through to a brighter day.

And that the storms can never take away from that peace, and in fact, can help make it stronger.

I realized in the middle of the night that I want to live a simple life full of peace and joy.

This isn’t a new thought – but I’m getting ahead of myself.

I’d created a small bouquet of a few single stems that felt special to me. It surprised me how lovely they looked together and how each one spoke to my heart.

Upon getting the flowers home, the rose had become extra delicate and droopy. I was a little concerned.

The head of the flower hung facing downwards and I was sad it didn’t look as vibrant as it had when I’d picked it out.

But then something amazing happened.

After having fresh cut ends, and being placed in water with “flower food,” I allowed it some space.

I went to bed feeling a little disappointed that it hadn’t been able to hold its own against the heat on the trip home, and worried it was a goner.

But when I woke up the next morning, its head was held high, radiance reborn and shining with a grace and beauty that seemed almost even more incredible than the day before.

What I realized is that we all need to give ourselves the support and nourishment we need to thrive.

That it’s amazing what you can accomplish with nourishment, water, a loving environment – and a little time.

So today I admire the resilience of the rose. And appreciate the way we, too, can thrive in challenging circumstances, and the many ways we can rise to the occasion to become the very best versions of ourselves.

This is something that’s unique and will look different for each of us. But today I’d love to know, what forms of nourishment are calling to you?

What do you feel you need more (or less) of in your life in order to create the right conditions for you to thrive in the season of life you’re in?

I’d love to know in the comments below!

Meanwhile, I’ll be over here savoring the sweet fragrance and radiant beauty of my ever-special, one-of-a-kind, resilient rose.

Always remember that you’re resilient, too.

Much love, and many blessings, always~
